This is an oil painting. I had been working on it sporadically for some months. I had only just started on the face and was unable to finish it before I returned to NZ to live. Unfortunately I was unable to send all my oil paints and this painting back to NZ to be able to finish it. But I present her to you as an example of oils
Wahine is Maori for woman, and Kotahe means ‘one’, or ‘alone’. In this case it is meant to symbolize the inner strength of all women everywhere, when faced with difficult and sometimes heartbreaking circumstances.
